A floral depth waits beneath Grey Flannel Cologne’s green opening, galbanum, orange, lemon, violet, and petitgrain giving little hint of what comes further in. Geranium, rose, and clary sage deepen that greenness through the entire middle, herbal and romantic without the composition ever losing its early clarity. Tonka, cedarwood, sandalwood, and oakmoss ground the entire dry down in a dense, resinous richness with remarkable staying power throughout. This Eau De Toilette suits daily wear and busy office hours especially well, distinctive rather than conventional about its own personality and character. Geoffrey Beene built something sophisticated here, entirely and quite unafraid of a green and rose pairing that most other houses tend to consistently avoid altogether entirely right from the very start.
