The fragrance industry changed when Youth Dew Perfume launched, originally sold as a bath oil before becoming one of Estee Lauder’s defining perfumes. Spices, aldehydes, narcissus, lavender, a curious cola tinged sweetness, orange, peach, and bergamot kick off with an unusually bold, spiced freshness. Spicy notes, cloves, cinnamon, rose, ylang ylang, jasmine, lily of the valley, cassia, and orchid give the heart a dense, richly spiced floral bouquet. Incense, tolu balsam, peru balsam, oakmoss, amber, patchouli, vetiver, vanilla, and musk finish in an extraordinarily rich, resinous base. As an oriental spicy fragrance, Youth Dew suits evening wear and cold weather occasions especially well. Estee Lauder built this fragrance as a true trailblazer, and its considerable intensity still commands real respect among fragrance historians today. Even a light application tends to project strongly, a reminder of its bath oil origins.
